Wondering how things work at Joe's? Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions.

I have a problem with my car but I don't know what's wrong nor if I can afford to have it fixed, what should I do?

Call Joe's. Some repairs cannot be priced out over the phone without seeing the vehicle first but we will always try our best to answer your questions. We'll arrange for a good time to bring in your vehicle. Once it's in the shop, Joe will assess the problem and provide you with a time and cost estimate for the repair of your vehicle. No repair work will be done on any vehicle without the customers authorization and knowledge of the approximate cost involved. When there are multiple issues with a vehicle, sometimes the repair jobs can be prioritized and staggered to meet the customer's budget constraints.

My car has left me dumped in the middle of nowhere. What should I do?

Joe's is open weekdays between 7:30am and 5pm. If it's between those hours, call Joe and he will assess the situation. Normally, you would call a towing service (we recommend GNG Towing Service 773-983-5716) but if you have a road assistance membership you prefer, feel free to use them) and have your vehicle towed to our shop. If it's after hours, have the towing service leave your vehicle by the shop and deposit the keys in our keydrop location. A note identifying the vehicle would be helpful.

I was just in your shop and I noticed that your labor rate is $$ an hour. I'm afraid if left overnight, my repair bill will be more than the car is worth, what should I do?

Our published hourly labor rate is for the time that the technician is working on your vehicle. While the vehicle is sitting or in storage, the labor rate clock is not ticking. Besides, no work will be done on your vehicle without your prior knowledge of the final cost.

I saw a sale on parts at a store near me. I would like to buy them and have Joe's do the installation. Is this possible?

Joe's will not install any parts purchased outside of the shop. This is not an effort to gouge the customer. Ths is mainly due to insurance & warranty issues. We have suppliers that guarantee compatibility, performance and fast, no questions asked replacement. No such guarantees exists with normal retail outlets. When dealing with antique and/or high performance vehicles, feel free to ask Joe if this situation can be compromised.
